| For those of you who would prefer a condensed version of Menno Haven history, you are in luck! Here is a brief timeline of the major events here at the Haven: Early 1950's--idea for Illinois Mennonite summer youth camping took form June 21, 1959--Menno Haven dedicated by Lawrence Horst 1960-62--Cabins and bath houses added 1964--Long range planning consultation began 1968--The main lodge was dedicated and the 1st year round staff person was hired 1976--The campground, Oak Lodge, and Hickory House were all completed 1983--Debt annulled 1992--Campground pavilion built 1993--Main lodge made handicap accessible 1997--Adventure course developed 1999--Adopt a room program revitalizes hotel rooms 1999--Lake renovation concludes 2001--Faith in Action campaign started Fall of 2003--Activity Center completed & dedicated |
